10.00 Grange Stone Circle / Lough Gur

It is one of Ireland’s most important archaeological sites. Humans have lived near Lough Gur since about 3000 BC and there are numerous megalithic remains there.

12.00 Cahir Castle

Once the stronghold of the powerful Butler family, the castle retains its impressive keep, tower and much of its original defensive structure. It is one of Ireland’s largest and best preserved castles.

13:00 Lunch (choice of lunch in Cahir or Cashel)

14:15 Rock of Cashel

A spectacular group of Medieval buildings set on an outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale including the 12th century round tower, High Cross and Romanesque Chapel, 13th century Gothic cathedral, 15th century Castle and the restored Hall of the Vicars Choral.

15:30 Depart Cashel

16:30 Castlegarde Castle (Afternoon Tea)

The oldest inhabited castle in Ireland built in circa A.D. 1190 by the O’Briens. Later used as a Geraldine tower house used as a late-medieval fortress by the Earls of Desmond until the confiscation of their palatinate.
